Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search tool is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and returns its result. Search terms are not stored or logged by Keweenaw County Court Docket.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If a visitor sends an email, the message is retained so a response can be made. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, server and service logs may collect technical information about the visit, including:
- The IP address assigned to the device.
- The browser and its version.
- The device type and operating system.
- Pages visited and time spent on each page.
- The referring site, when one is available.
- Timestamps associated with page views.
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a device. They help measure traffic, page use, and general visitor patterns. Analytics services aggregate that activity. Browser settings can block cookies, although some features may work differently after a block is applied.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, maintaining, and improving page performance.
- Passing a search request to the selected partner service.
- Assessing which resource pages are used and where technical work is needed.
- Investigating and correcting technical problems.
- Displaying advertising that may relate to visitor interests.
No Court-Record Data on File
Keweenaw County Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case-record information. It provides general routing information for the Keweenaw County courts, clerks, and public case-history search. The maintaining court, not this private resource, keeps the official case file.
Michigan court files are governed by MCR 8.119, which controls public inspection, copies, and restrictions. The county FOIA process is for county-held administrative records and does not provide a route around a sealed or restricted judicial record. Juvenile, adoption, wills, mental-health, and sealed records may have limited or nonpublic access. Keweenaw court case history is available through the official MiCOURT Case Search when the case is public, but it is not the certified record.
Keweenaw County Court Docket is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Information collected from visitors is not assembled into consumer reports or personal records about third parties.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search boxes are operated by outside providers. Information entered into those tools is processed under the provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and sharing practices. Review that provider's policy before submitting a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Keweenaw County clerk or court pages, Michigan court portals, legal-aid resources, and third-party search tools. Following a link leaves this resource, and the destination's privacy policy governs the resulting visit. Review that policy before providing personal information.
Advertising partners may track activity across websites to provide interest-based advertising. That activity occurs on their systems rather than on the systems of Keweenaw County Court Docket.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may be received by:
- Search partners that process a query submitted through a search tool.
- Analytics services used to measure traffic and performance.
- Advertising networks that place advertisements on pages.
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure.
How We Protect Your Data
Standard security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security, so a breach can never be ruled out.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor's information is believed to have been submitted, it will be removed after notice.
Your Data Rights
Michigan law and the law where a visitor lives may provide additional privacy or consumer-protection rights. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of information held about that visitor.
- Request correction of information that is inaccurate.
- Request deletion of personal information.
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing where applicable.
